Wearing: Black Coheed and Cambria band tee, black jeans, neckerchief, Fedora Hat, Guess Vest. Vest Kindly Donated by a colleague. Literally took it off and gave it to me at work. Without prompting.
A friend of mine and fellow photographer contacted me a few days ago asking me if I would like to team up to cover a charity event with him.
My first inclination, was to say no. A few reasons immediately sprang to mind. It was volunteer work. It was meeting new people. It was volunteer work. It meant leaving the studio to meet new people and it was volunteer work.
I have a rule for things like this. DO IT.
You don’t overturn a new stone in your back garden. You have to venture further down the path and into the woods. Eventually, you have to abandon the path altogether. Essentially any opportunity that comes my way that throws me out of my comfort zone and puts me in new situations is an opportunity I try to force myself to say yes to.
I had a great time, the photographer I was working with was Harrison Sarasola and with a name like that you just know he’s going to be famous one day! Harrison is fabulous and lovely to be around. A big ball of nervous bitchiness and genuine affection. He is both quick to laughter and faux indignation , passing judgmental accusations with sincere love and honesty.
His work is fantastic and imaginative. You can contact Harrison at
“I am an up and coming photographer who aspires to capture those little moments; Candid shots being my specialty.” – H. Sarasola.
The event itself was for the “Lilla Foundation.” It’s purpose is to improve the quality of life for the people of the Lilla Community in the Northern Territory.
If you wanted to make a donation of find out a little bit more here is there mycause page.
Hosting the Event was Caitlin Alderson, who is a state finalist for miss world Australia!
We snapped a few on the go shots of Caitlin on our way out, Lighting here was On camera flash with Gary Fong diffuser and second flash provided by my slave speedlight still mounted to my second camera. A lighting style I think I want to use more as it felt very bad ass!
